Travelpro first designed and produced business travel cases between 1987 and the early 1990's. They had expert advice from a 747 pilot and their cases were designed around the needs of the frequent flier. During the time when the business travel case was emerging and gaining momentum, my daughter's luggage went missing and was replaced by the airline with a huge, maroon monster on four little wheels on one side and a handle on the other to steer it with.
The wheels were not synchronized and each seemed to wobble in a different direction. This was way back in the early 1990's. I borrowed it from her in May of 1997 to go from my home down south to Munich for a week. It was a mistake.

Munich's transport system is very efficient and I traveled by train from right inside the airport to the centre of town and from there I walked to the hotel lugging that suitcase.
I swear that was the worst time of my entire trip, pushing and pulling, struggling to remain on the pavement, crossing streets and trying to read the map at the same time. I organized a lift back to the airport when I left.
Traveling a lot during the past few years, I've been amazed to still see cases very similar to the 'maroon monster' at check out counters and realized that those passengers were visitors. They do that trip once in a while to see the new baby or to attend a wedding.
Their luggage requirements are different from that of the person who moves around often for business or work.
A new business luggage class has only been added to the industry fairly recently.
While designing a new range of business travel cases, Travelpro had to consider what those travelers needed to overcome the obstacles in the way to good travel experiences.
It goes without saying that I would have decent wheels and a good handle high on my list and I dread the day a zip should break spewing my underwear all over the floor.
